Two brothers, one law firm, seven decades of the same operation. The corporate law firms and financial networks that profited from the regimes a war was fought to defeat did not disappear when the war ended — they staffed the agencies that built the postwar order, and they kept the same clients.

The same corporate-to-state pipeline that produced one generation's foreign policy produces the next, because the training ground — the firm, the bank, the client roster — stays intact even as the names in government change.
Nazi scientists brought to the United States under Operation Paperclip — the clearest single measure of a postwar policy that imported the enemy's personnel rather than prosecuting them.

Sullivan & Cromwell's German clientele of the 1920s–30s — IG Farben, Krupp, Thyssen, Schroeder — became, through the revolving door from the firm to the State Department to the CIA, the foreign-policy interest the Dulles brothers protected from inside government.

The ties were personal and wartime: Allen Dulles met Hitler in 1933 and the firm kept working; near the war's end he ran Operation Sunrise, a separate peace negotiated with the SS in Northern Italy.

The sequence, codified into four coups.
- Iran 1953 — Mossadegh deposed, the Shah restored (TPAJAX).
- Guatemala 1954 — Árbenz deposed, Castillo Armas installed (PBSUCCESS).
- Congo 1961 — Lumumba assassinated, with Dulles's direct approval.
- Chile 1973 — Allende deposed, Pinochet installed.

- Operation Paperclip — 1,600 German scientists imported into U.S. programs.
- The Gehlen Organization — Hitler's Eastern-Front intelligence chief becomes West Germany's spymaster (the BND).
- The ratlines — Klaus Barbie, Adolf Eichmann, Josef Mengele, and Walter Rauff escaping via covert channels.
When oversight tightened, the doctrine moved offshore: the Safari Club, founded September 1, 1976 with five signatories at Mount Kenya, ran covert operations outside U.S. accountability — the apparatus that later surfaced inside the government during Iran-Contra, with William Casey as DCI.

The same men recur at the hinge points: John J. McCloy released the convicted Nuremberg industrialists, including Krupp — and then sat on the Warren Commission.

The operating style has heirs. Roy Cohn — McCarthy's chief counsel in 1953–54 — carried the deny-attack-never-settle method forward into the client who anchors the Self-Dealing hub; and the modern restoration ran through Rumsfeld and Cheney, Halliburton/KBR privatization, and torture memos drafted in Sullivan & Cromwell's successor firms.
