The Lever's exclusive: Searchlight's previously-undisclosed board includes Simone Otus Coxe, a Democratic megadonor and co-founder of the nonprofit newsroom CalMatters, whose multibillion-dollar fortune comes largely from her husband Tench Coxe — a Sutter Hill venture capitalist and longtime Nvidia board member, estimated in 2024 to hold ~$5.6 billion, about 1% of all Nvidia stock. Nvidia is the dominant AI-chip designer and a top beneficiary of data-center expansion and light AI regulation — the exact positions Searchlight advances. The seat was not on Searchlight's public masthead.

No document shows Coxe dictated a position, and we don't claim one; Jentleson's electability rationale is sincere and Coxe is one board member.
